Kent Cowherd resides full-time in Crested Butte, Colorado, where he has lived since 1990 after graduating from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Design in Architecture. He established Crested Butte Drafting and Design in 1991 and has successfully guided many clients through the design and construction process for nearly 25 years.

He has extensive expertise designing in high altitude mountain environments including many building types: residential, commercial, industrial, mixed-use, multi-family, resort, and historic architecture.

Kent has 23 years of experience working with local design review boards including the Crested Butte Board of Zoning and Archtectural Review (“BOZAR”). His many projects can be seen throughout the Gunnison/ Crested Butte area including: the Town of Crested Butte, Mount Crested Butte, and the Prospect, Goldlink, Overlook, Skyland, Buckhorn Ranch, and Crested Butte South subdivisions, as well as Telluride. He has also designed affordable housing projects for both the Town of Crested Butte and the Town of Mount Crested Butte and currently serves as the design review consultant for both the Summit and the Goldlink subdivisions in Mount Crested Butte.

Kent employs sustainable building practices and materials in all his designs to ensure an environmentally coordinated project. He has a practical, site sensitive approach that utilizes complete construction documents to facilitate successful projects all the way from initial design development to government permitting and construction.
